The main objective of the Institute of Physics of Materials of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IPM, CAS) is to clarify the relationship between the behaviour and properties of materials and their structural and microstructural characteristics.
Mgr. Milan Heczko from the Institute of Physics of Materials (IPM) has been awarded the Thermo Fisher Scientific & Czechoslovak Microscopic Society fellowship for the support of scientific work of young researchers.
Thousands of visitors moved to our exposition at the Science Festival with JMK. We had the opportunity to let the children and their parents be amazed at the properties of the shape memory materials, the colors of the stresses displayed by the photoelastic phenomenon, and the effects of the eddy currents.
Summer School of Electron Microscopy was organized at our institute. In four days (31. 7. 2018 – August 3, 2018), those interested in this field focused mainly on work with transmission electron microscopes. The lecturer was prof. Antonín Dlouhý and the course was oriented to both beginners and advanced staff in the field.
On 18 January 2018, the president of the Czech Academy of Sciences awarded an honorary medal of Ernst Mach for merits in Physics to prof. Jean-Luc Martin. Prof. Martin has been cooperating with our institute for many years. On this occasion, the symposium Current trends in materials science held on 19 January 2018 in Prague, […]
