Anotace
The project was focused on the study of variable amplitude loading and above all overloading on the fatigue resistance of advanced materials, fiber-metal laminates, finding applications in the transport, especially in the aircraft industry. The GLARE laminate with cross-ply orientation of fibers was chosen for experimental program. Initial tests were performed by means of servohydraulic testing machine and data relating to early stages of fatigue degradation were obtained. The numbers of cycles to crack initiation and propagation were established for constant amplitude loading (at five levels of mean stress). The effect of fiber orientation both on initiation and propagation of cracks and on the delamination accompanying fatigue crack initiation and growth was considered. Partial aim planned for the first year of the project was fully accomplished. The main aim of this project, i.e. obtaining of basic knowledge on the initial stages of the fatigue damage under variable amplitude loading and overloading, was not reached in the full range due to lack of time (project was terminated ahead of schedule – after 4 months of its duration).
