Was the first quantum conference in the quantum year 2025 at IPM?

On Friday, January 3, 2025, our institute co-organized the Three Kings Conference 2025 (3KK-2025). Since many topics were related to quantum science and technology, our conference was likely the first in 2025, which UNESCO declared the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. We are glad to be the first, and we hope you celebrate […]
New electrodynamic fatigue machine in our laboratories

As part of the MeBioSys project, an electrodynamic fatigue testing system was purchased for the high-cycle fatigue group laboratory. It is a universal system for cyclic and static testing of materials in the temperature range from -60°C to 180°C. The system consists of an Instron E20000 electrodynamic test stand and a Weiss Technik TensileEvent climatic […]
New alloy with unique properties developed

Two scientists from the Institute of Physics of Materials, Czech Academy of Sciences, Dr. Veronika Mazánová and Dr. Milan Heczko, were part of an international study, which led to the development of new CrCoNi alloy exhibiting unique combination of yield strength and fracture toughness at room and cryogenic temperatures (77 K, -196 °C), exceeding the […]
Record attendance at Open Days 2024

On November 7 and 8, 2024, our institute held open days as part of the Week of the Academy of Sciences. Due to the great interest in previous years, this year, for the first time, the event was a two-day event, bringing a record attendance – almost 500 visitors!
