RNDr. Jiří Svoboda, CSc., DSc. published the results of his research as part of the GAČR 17-01641S project in a prestigious journal Progress in Materials Science. This journal publishes the latest findings leading to significant improvements in material properties.
A paper entitled Kinetics of interaction with impurity interstitials with dislocations revisited by J. Svoboda, W. Ecker, V.I. Razumovskiy, G.A. Zickler, F.D. Fischer is the result of a long-term research on thermodynamic modeling at the IPM in collaboration with Montan University Leoben and Materials Center Leoben, Austria. The paper deals with the modeling of segregation kinetics of interstitial components at dislocation kernel and helps understanding well-known phenomena such as steel reinforcement or hydrogen embrittlement. The results of the study also serve to elucidate the drastic increase in the solubility of interstitial elements such as oxygen during mechanical alloying, thereby allowing the preparation of new steels reinforced with a high volume fraction of nano-oxides.
