On October 16 and 17, the Institute of Physics of Materials (IPM) hosted Professor Ulrich W. Fekl from the University of Toronto in Canada. Professor Fekl is an expert on the use of quantum computers in chemistry and material sciences. In addition to getting to know the research topics of the IPM and a number of discussions, he also gave a lecture
„Applying quantum computing to chemically important and scalable problems: studying adamantane isomerizations with classical and quantum computers“ .
Professor Fekl was impressed both by the meeting with the researchers at IPM and by a short walk through Brno (see photo). Professor Fekl is already planning another working meeting with our experts, e.g. the group of Dr. Martin Friák. We believe that we have succeeded in starting a fruitful future collaboration with a well-known expert in the field of quantum computing and his team at a university that, according to the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), is number one in Canada, ranking 23rd among more than twenty thousand worldwide rated institutions.
