Compressor wheel’s performance increase in auxiliary power units for aerospace application

Anotace
Project is focused on the development of completely new compressor wheels with optimised design. To complete this aim the following steps will be performed. Basic mechanical properties, fracture mechanical parameters and fatigue behaviour of aluminium alloy EN AW-2618A-T6 will be obtained in the temperature range of 21–200°C. The effect of surface treatment and fibre orientation on mechanical and fatigue properties of the aluminium alloy will be assessed and the influence of machining technology of compressor wheels on their lifetime will be evaluated. The lifetime of the compressor wheel will be calculated on the basis of the test results and the wheel design will be geometrically optimized. Finally, a function wheel sample will be produced.
