NiTi Shape Memory Alloys and Their Processing-Structure-Transformation Relationship

Investigatorprof. RNDr. Antonín Dlouhý, CSc.
Number of Project106/05/0918
AgencyGrantová agentura České republiky
Duration2004-12-31 - 2007-12-30

Anotace
There are two primary research objectives: (i) to find a link between the parameters of the Ni4Ti3 phase precipitation and the characteristics of forward and reverse martensitic transformations B2-(R)-B19’ in Ni-rich NiTi shape memory alloys (SMAs) and (ii) to demonstrate that the processing technology of advanced materials (in particular melting and casting of NiTi SMAs) can be successfully transferred to and grown in the traditional industrial environment of the Czech Republic. The study of impurities (introduced during the alloy processing) and their influence on the microstructure and NiTi shape memory characteristics establishes a close link between the two main objectives of the proposed investigation.
