Anotace
This project is design to carry out systematic study of high temperature properties (creep and hot corrosion resistance) on a model quaternary Ni-Cr-W-C system in the alloying additives ranges of interest for cast nickel superalloys. Research is focussed on the model alloys with Cr level of 30 wt% containing from 0.05 to 0.40 wt.% of carbon and from 0 to 15 wt.% of tugsten. Microstructural investigation by analytical microscopic techniques (SEM, TEM, EDS), long-term thermal ageing, high temperature creep and hot corrosion testing are being performed on Ni-Cr-W-C model alloys. The main aim of the project is to evaluate the compositional effect of tungsten and carbon on high temperature strength and hot corrosion resistance and better understanding of microstructural, deformation and damage mechanisms producing high strength and good corrosion resistance in Ni-Cr-W-C system. The output from the project should be a proposal for optimised chemical composition of new cast nickel superalloys.
