Impact of hydrogen on structural and functional properties of NiTi shape memory alloys

Investigatorprof. RNDr. Antonín Dlouhý, CSc.
Number of Project8J21AT002
Internal Project Number421010
Duration2021-01-01 - 2022-12-31

Anotace
The primary objective is to provide an insight into interactions between hydrogen and NiTi matrix, in particular, to pin down basic physical characteristics of sorption and desorption processes. The fundamental questions we would like to answer are:
  1. What is the solubility of hydrogen in the NiTi matrix?
  2. Is hydrogen homogeneously distributed through the matrix (interstitial solid solution) or does it form a hydride phase?
  3. What is the impact of hydrogen on the overall mechanical properties?
