Optimizing the high temperature mechanical properties of iron aluminides of Fe3Al type with carbide forming elements
Number of Project | P108/12/1452 |
Agency | Grantová agentura České republiky |
Duration | 2012-12-31 - 2015-12-30 |
Anotace |
The alloys based on intermetallic compounds of iron and aluminium owing to their excellent resistance to oxidation and sulfidation are attractive for many high temperature applications. Therefore, their creep resistance, that is unfortunately relatively low, is very important. Improvements in this direction can be obtained through precipitation of second phase particles in basic Fe3Al matrix after addition of elements with a limited solubility. Within the project, the additions of carbide-forming elements will be studied together with the additions of carbon. The strengthening can then be achieved either by intermetallic phases, by the respective carbides or by their combination. |
