Anotace
Brittle matrix composites represent a group of perspective materials. Despite of a relatively large progress in experimental and theoretical research of these materials there remains a wide range of unsolved problems that may by crucial for furtherdevelopment of the abovementioned group of composites. In contrast to the preceding project (GAČR 101/02/0683) focused to the problems of brittle matrix toughening by metal particles and/or long fibres, the project proposed aims to focus to crackshielding effects in brittle matrix composites reinforced by short fibres or brittle platelets. In both cases the key toughening effect of the reinforcement is due to contribution of several mechanisms, including debonding and microcrack propagationalong material interfaces, crack deflection, crack bridging and, especially, the synergism of those mechanisms. Experimentally, the object of investigation will be borosilicate matrix composites with grading contents of Al203 platelets and mullite matrix
