On April 26, 2022, new technology for precision casting of turbocharger impeller castings of První brněnská strojírna Velká Bíteš a.s. was awarded by international Quality Innovation Award, in the category Business Innovations – Large Companies.
The award-winning technology was developed as part of a joint project of PBS and IPM. The project Research and development of advanced technologies for precision casting of new types of castings of heat-exposed turbochargers from nickel-based superalloys (researcher Prof. Karel Hrbáček, PBS Velká Bíteš, a.s., co-researcher doc. Pavel Hutař, IPM AS CR, v.v.i.) was solved in the framework of Operational Program Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness (OP PIK). The new technology has already been successfully introduced into series production and the impellers produced by this technology are already heading from Velká Bíteš to the world’s leading markets.
