Prof. Yunzhi Wang from The Ohio State University (USA) has started his visit of IPM as a part of the MEBioSys OP JAK project. During his month-long stay in Brno, Prof. Wang will lead an Autumn computer modeling school called „Phase Field Method and Its Applications for Simulating Complex Microstructures“, which will take place at IPM during period of October 14-17, 2024.
Prof. Wang (H-index 80) belongs to the absolute top scientists in the field of materials science worldwide. He is the author and co-author of almost 400 peer-reviewed works, including publications in Science, Nature Communications, and Progress in Materials Science journals. His works have reached almost 20,000 citations. He is also the recipient of many of the highest awards given worldwide in the field of materials science, most recently the TMS Fellow Award 2024 and the 2024 William Hume-Rothery Award from TMS.
Prof. Wang started his visit to the Czech Republic already last week when he participated as one of the keynote speakers at the MMM11 conference in Prague, organized by Assoc. Prof. Roman Gröger under the auspices of the Institute of Physics of Materials of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
As a part of the Autumn School of Computer Modeling, Prof. Wang will give four lectures devoted to the introduction to the method each morning from 9:30 am to 11:30 am in the IPM lecture hall (5th floor). If you are interested in participating in the lectures, contact Prof. Antonín Dlouhý (dlouhy@nullipm.cz).
The monthly stay of Prof. Wang at IPM is made possible thanks to the OP JAK project of the MEBioSys (contract No. CZ.02.01.01/00/22_008/0004634) following the International Memorandum of Cooperation concluded within the framework of this OP JAK project between the IPM CAS and The Ohio State University.
