A new TGA/DSC-MS device (Linesis PT1000 STA + QMS) for simultaneous thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetric analysis was purchased at IPM as part of the MATUR project. The equipment was purchased primarily to measure the temperature and kinetics of hydrogen desorption, which L. Král works on at IPM.
The TGA/DSC method allows measuring the change in weight during heating/cooling in a precisely controlled atmosphere. It also measures the thermal behavior of the material that does not cause a weight change (melting, glass transitions, etc.). By connecting the system to a mass spectrometer, the nature of the gaseous products of the reaction can also be investigated.
