Looking Back at the Applied Mechanics 2025 Conference

At the end of April, the Institute of Physics of Materials organized the Applied Mechanics 2025 conference, held in the picturesque town of Mikulov. The conference was chaired by Prof. Luboš Náhlík. This year marked the 26th edition of this traditional conference series, which was co-founded in 1999 by representatives from the Institute.

The conference focuses on various areas of applied mechanics – including structural and fracture mechanics, dynamics, mechatronics, and biomechanics. A special emphasis is placed on supporting students and early-career researchers, providing a friendly environment for presenting their research results and connecting with peers from the field. Each year, the conference is hosted by one of the eight institutions from the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

This year’s event was attended by over 60 experts from university departments of mechanics, research institutions, and companies involved in the aforementioned disciplines. The program featured 40 contributed talks and two highly inspiring invited lectures, delivered by Radek Urbiš from Škoda Auto a.s. and Tomáš Bouda from Applus Idiada CZ.

We thank all participants for their engagement and for contributing to the welcoming atmosphere that has become a hallmark of this conference. We are already looking forward to the next edition, which will be organized in 2026 by the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of West Bohemia.
