On Thursday, November 6, 2025, Prof. RNDr. Ludvík Kunz, CSc., dr. h. c. and Prof. Ing. Karel Hrbáček, DrSc. received Ernst Mach honorary medals for their contributions to the physical sciences from the President of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prof. Radomír Pánek. „We nominated both colleagues for the medal at the same time. They achieved many results together and their collaboration lasted for most of their careers,“ explained Tomáš Kruml, director of the IPM. It should be added that both professors were connected in their research primarily by solving material problems related to production at the PBS Velká Bíteš foundry.
