On 6–7 November 2025, the Institute of Physics of Materials of the Czech Academy of Sciences held its Open Days as part of the Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences. This year’s program included guided laboratory tours, the popular science lecture Quantum Forge, and the interactive science show Tear It!. We were delighted to welcome nearly 300 visitors over the two days! 👏
🔬 Thursday offered the richest program – from 9:00 to 16:00, visitors could explore our laboratories focused on mechanical properties, creep, fracture behaviour, ceramic 3D printing, and visit the newly opened Electron Microscopy Centre. They saw state-of-the-art instruments in action and had the opportunity to speak with our researchers.
At three scheduled times (9:00, 11:00, 13:00), we also hosted the Quantum Forge lecture followed by the Tear It! science show, where breaking, bending, shattering, and experimenting brought smiles and excitement to the audience.
⚛️ On Friday, the program continued with morning sessions of the lecture and science show (9:00 and 11:00), this time primarily for school groups.
We would like to thank everyone who joined us, asked questions, explored, and shared their enthusiasm for science. It was a pleasure to welcome you – and we look forward to seeing you again in 2026! 🙌
