Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences at IPM
31.10.2025 The Institute of Physics of Materials CAS will once again take part in the Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences, held from 3–9 November 2025. Visitors can look forward to guided laboratory tours, the lecture “Quantum Forge”, and the science show “Tear It Up!” – all taking place on 6 and 7 November.
120 seconds: Meet the Brnoregion Microscopy
24.10.2025 Two minutes can be enough for scientists to capture the attention of experts from across the region. This year again, researchers from Institute of Physics of Materials, The Czech Academy of Sciences took part in the traditional 120 Seconds event held in Brno.

20.10.2025 On 14.10.2025, a conference was held at the IPM as part of the project STRATEGY AV21 – THE POWER OF MATTER: MATERIALITY BETWEEN PAST AND FUTURE. The event was attended by 15 scientists from various institutes of the Academy of Sciences.

27.9.2025 Researchers‘ Night, whose theme this year was Wealth, attracted over 300 people to IPM despite the cold and rainy weather. On Friday, September 26, 2025, children and adults set out searching for treasure!

25.9.2025 The Stanford/Elsevier list of the top 2% of scientists for 2025 is out, and what’s more, six scientists from IPM are among them! The updated global rankings are available at topscinet.com, where data for entire careers and individual years are available.

15.7.2025 A review article by Dr. Martin Sojka from the Institute of Materials Physics and Prof. Patrick Gamez from the University of Barcelona has been published in Coordination Chemistry Reviews (IF = 23.5, D1).
‘Shaping Order’ for a Cleaner Future
25.6.2025 A new review article titled „TiO₂ mesocrystals: recent progress in synthesis, structure, and photocatalytic applications“ has been published in the journal Advanced Composites and Hybrid Materials, authored by MSc. Anjali Valadi Palliyalil and Dr. Sanjay Gopal Ullattil from the Institute of Physics of Materials.
Directors of the IPM received the Memorial Medals of FME BUT
13.6.2025 Prof. Tomáš Kruml and Prof. Ludvík Kunz, current and former director of the Institute of Physics of Materials, received the Memorial Medal on Wednesday, June 4, during the Scientific Council Ceremony of the FME. The event was held on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty.
