On 16 December 2025, Stanislav Seitl was appointed Professor by the President of the Czech Republic. He works at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology, and is also a senior research scientist at the Institute of Materials Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
At the Institute of Materials Physics CAS, Professor Stanislav Seitl leads the research group FRACTIGUE – Special Problems of Fracture Mechanics and Material Fatigue. His research focuses primarily on material fatigue and structural lifetime, two-parameter fracture mechanics, and numerical modelling and computation of fracture-mechanics parameters. He has long been engaged in both research and teaching in these areas.
Throughout his professional career, he has completed several international research stays and is the author of a large number of scientific publications with significant international impact. For his scientific achievements, he has received several awards, including the prestigious ESIS Fellow title, and has repeatedly ranked among the most productive researchers at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology.
His appointment as Professor represents recognition of his long-term scientific work, contributions to the field of fracture mechanics and material fatigue, and his role in educating the next generation of experts.
