Researchers‘ Night 2025 at IPM – In search of treasure, even in the rain!

Researchers‘ Night, whose theme this year was Wealth, attracted over 300 people to IPM despite the cold and rainy weather. On Friday, September 26, 2025, children and adults set out searching for treasure!

At five stations, visitors could discover interesting facts about quantum computers, precious metal-based medicines, laboratory demonstrations of fatigue and creep machines, and microscopic games. The children were most interested in the creative station with microscopic games, where they could put together puzzles from electron microscope images, play microscopic memory games, or make flowers out of filter paper. Adults enjoyed the Riches of Time stand with interesting facts about metals used in medicine, as well as the quantum forge, where visitors could try out Erwin Schrödinger’s thought experiment simulator and, after opening the box, find out whether the cat was alive or dead. We assure you that no harm was done to the health or lives of any animals or visitors. Everyone who completed the entire trail and figured out the treasure’s location from the clues received a sweet reward.

There was also a lot of activity at the escape game, where visitors tried to get „inside the head“ of a playful scientist and escape from his laboratory full of traps.

The last part of our program consisted of guided tours of the laboratories, where visitors from the general public could first look at the newly opened Electron Microscopy Center or the unique 3D ceramic printer. Of course, the tour also included classic laboratories focused on magnetic properties, material fatigue, and creep testing.

We want to thank all visitors to this year’s Researchers‘ Night for their interest in our work and look forward to next year’s event.
