Directors of the IPM received the Memorial Medals of FME BUT

Prof. Tomáš Kruml and Prof. Ludvík Kunz, current and former director of the Institute of Physics of Materials, received the Memorial Medal on Wednesday, June 4, during the Scientific Council Ceremony of the FME. The event was held on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering honored distinguished personalities who have made significant contributions to the development and prestige of the faculty through their many years of work in education, science, and service to society.

Prof. Tomáš Kruml and Prof. Ludvík Kunz were awarded the Memorial Medals for their long-term intensive academic and scientific research cooperation linking top scientific institutions represented by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

On this occasion, a restored bust of Viktor Kaplan was also unveiled in the foyer of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the BUT. The bust was unveiled by Viktor Kaplan’s granddaughter, prof. Gerlind Weber.
